Casa dos Macieis is a 5,5 hectare estate with code of arms from the Pereira’s and the Maciel’s, located in Facha, Ponte de Lima, alongside Santiago’s Way, completely renovated from 2008-2011 and periodically restored, as recently as in 2025.
Composed of the main house, a guesthouse, outdoor swimming pool, front garden, lawn with millennial olive trees, kitchen garden with greenhouse, fruit trees and traditional washing tank, farm with organic production, including an orchard, vineyards (Loureiro cast), donkey, sheep, chicken, duck and dog breeding, woods, a small creek that traverses the property, and natural springs.
The main house, with code of arms from the Pereira’s, possibly built in 1648 for a family member of Nuno Álvares Pereira, has an area of approximately 1 500 m2, 2 kitchens, 6 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, two large contiguous social rooms, including a meeting or dining room seating 22 people, 2 smaller living rooms and 3 fireplaces. The Casa do Caseiro guesthouse is autonomous, with kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living room.
The main house and the guesthouse are independent from one another but share the same quality of accommodation. Both have ceilings and doors in handcrafted oak, floor in Riga wood, and wooden windows with double glass, marbled bathrooms, structured pavement on the lower floors for isolation and air conditioning. In addition to air conditioning, the meeting rooms of the main house have an air renewal system.
The outdoor swimming pool, approximately 15m long, 5m wide and 1 to 3m deep, has privacy from outside viewers.
Water from natural springs all year round (water wells and water mines). Stone water tanks are present. Property entirely walled and fenced. Access from East, West and North via 5 traditional iron gates and an automatic gate.
In addition to the tranquility of the Facha Valley, the swimming pool, and the property of Casa dos Macieis, agricultural activities for visitors include those associated with raising donkeys, sheep, dogs, chickens, and ducks; vegetable gardens; greenhouses; orchards and vineyards; and collecting bay leaves. The observation of owls, blackbirds, woodpeckers, and other birds is also possible, as well as the night sky.
