Solares de Portugal...The art of good living ...
Solares de Portugal is a unique concept that was introduced to promote quality tourist accommodation in houses of character and, at the same time, preserve the rich legacy of Portugal’s architectural and cultural heritage. They are not hotels or guesthouses. They are privately-owned stately manor houses (Casas Antigas), elegant country homes (Quintas & Herdades) and rustic farmhouses (Casas Rusticas). Situated in some of Portugal’s most picturesque locations, the Solares nestle within large estates surrounded by beautifully designed gardens, vineyards that produce delicious in-house wines, fruit orchards and woodlands.

Experience the traditional charms of Portugal’s historic manor houses.
Portugal’s traditional residences, with their grand architecture, represent the historical heritage of the 17th and 18th Centuries. Most are to be found in Northern Portugal.
Visit these manor houses or country houses as the guest of the Portuguese family who own the property. These traditional families will provide a warm welcome, as well as sharing fascinating information on the architecture of their home, its art works, and even letting you look at their historic family photos. You’ll appreciate the facilities in these fine estate houses, with some even having their own swimming pool.
