Golf is no longer an elitist sport. The number of people enjoying the game in their free time during the weekend or on vacation is rapidly growing. The reasons are not difficult the find. Beautiful surroundings, the benefit of exercise, the high level of concentration necessary and the social interaction that comes with the sport are the most obvious. After playing golf for a while and reaching a good technical level comes the need to try new courses. Most of the golf clubs in Portugal employ professional coaches so anybody can star to learn the game.

Just 80 km north from Lisbonn, in Obidos we find the Praia D’el Rey golf course.

The golf Club of Praia D”el Rey is situated in an area of great beauty not far from Peniche. With miles of Atlantic coast beaches and forests of pines this course has 72 holes in a zone of dunes where it is possible to see the Berlengas islands.

This course has in the past been twice chosen for hosting the European Cup. Located very near the historic fortified medieval town of Óbidos and only 60 minutes’ drive from Lisbon, Praia D'el Rey course has been placed in an extremely beautiful environmental position. As the holes are played the golfer passes through pine trees and enjoys attractive views over a lagoon and across to the blue Atlantic Ocean. This is a true style of Links Course offering an enjoyable challenge especially to the lower handicapped player.

Arriving in Beiras next to Coimbra and Aveiro where local history and culture are worth exploring the Curia Golf is a nine hole course. The course act as an adjunct to the main attraction of its famous spring waters that have enjoyed fame from as far back as the Roman era. This course is indicated to most golfers that wishes a pleasant and comfortable round. Planning is in course to extend the present nine holes to eighteen.

In Minho region the Ponte de Lima Golf Course is located a few miles from the sea in an area of great natural beauty. It will entertain both beginners and advanced players. It is designed in two nine-hole loops, with start and finish at the clubhouse.

There are many country houses to stay in Ponte de Lima, but for the golf lovers, the Casa de Anquião has the advantage of being ideally situated overlooking the course. The house has a swimming pool, a chapel and well maintained gardens.

The reputed hospitality of the region allied to the equally famous gastronomy are excellent factors that invite you to visit.

It is situated in a region that deserves to be visited due to the beauty of the landscape and the richness of the monumental and cultural heritage.

In the Bairrada region, the house is part of an estate with vineyards and orchards. In the 19th Century it belonged to the first Viscount Seabre, who prepared Portugal's Civil Code that was in force from 1867 to 1966. It’s an ideal place to visit the Luso and Curia Regions.

The Casa de Anquião is located 3 km from the historical town of Ponte de Lima, just beside the Golf Course, between the fairways 3, 4 and 5. This rural manor house dates back to the 17th century, and allows the guests to enjoy a magnificent view of the Golf Course, and country side, and a peaceful environment.
