Solares de Portugal developed children holiday programs for this season. In order to join parents and children in same sportive and cultural activities, Solares de Portugal are family homes as opposed to hotels, offering a very different kind of holiday experience with that "personal touch". All our houses have been arranged into three distinct groups: Casas Antigas, Quintas e Herdades and Casas Rústicas. They have been individually inspected to ensure the highest standard of quality and hospitality.
Solares de Portugal proposes three different thematic holidays, which combines the distinguish groups of the houses, there children facilities, nature, heritage and history with the agro-tourism, eco-tourism and culture of the countryside. Portugal is idyllic for children to visit and to enjoy.

“Discover the countryside of Portugal”
To discover historical villages and to enjoy the beauty of the Portuguese architecture are the proposals of Casas Rusticas (country houses and cottages). Distinguished by their type of construction, being of simple architectural style and using regional materials. Generally of a smaller dimension, they contain simple and practical, but comfortable furnishings. They offer an excellent opportunity to appreciate the peace and tranquillity of the country life.
Surrounding by a rustic environment, peaceful gardens, swimming pools, playgrounds they are an invitation to discover the Portuguese countryside, to enjoy the greatest Portugal. Here parents and children can listen to the birds singing and the water flowing in the streams. They can also see amazing landscapes, feel the fresh of the mornings and walk together by shepherds’ tracks, having peace and living with the nature.

“Holidays in the Farm”
The first program allows you to discover and participate in farming activities developed in Solares de Portugal. Parents and children can learn how to make bread, cheese, marmalades, sausages and handicraft. They can also recreate the traditional games, as “Petanca”, “jogo da malha” or “macaca”. Quintas e Herdades (Country Estates and farmhouses), within a rural setting and atmosphere, whose main houses encompass architectural styles from the classic to the rustic, are the perfect group to participate in this activities.
At “Quintas” there also are bicycles for nice rides on the afternoon, mini-golf courses, children playgrounds and walking tours to be discovered.

“Between the sea and the mountain”
The beauty of the nature and the landscapes of Portugal suggest a visit to the coast, to the rivers or to the mountains. Solares de Portugal proposes a stay at Casas Antigas, manors or stately homes located next to the coast, near the rivers or in the Natural reserves.
To those who like the beach sceneries, the seaboard, the long sand banks, the Atlantic Ocean and some water sports, there are several sports that can be practiced by children of all age, such us surf, body board and kite surf. There are also training schools in different beach, such as Viana do Castelo, Mariana, Castelo do Neiva, Apúlia, Peniche, Foz do Arelho, Costa da Caparica and others.
An alternative is to discover the beautiful and peaceful rivers such as Tagus, Douro, Minho, Lima, Mondego, Zêzere, Guadiana, Cávado, Paiva, Tâmega, Alva, Mira e Côa. All of them invite you to relax, fish or practice sports like kayaking, canoeing or sailing. From the North to the South there are much more small rivers to discover within different mountains and natural reserves. Further more in the National Park of Peneda Gerês, or in the Mountains as Caramulo, Montesinho, Marvão, Marão, Estrela and Monchique there are nature beauties that includes water fallings and lakes here parents and children can also do paragliding, rappel and slide.
