Solares de Portugal – The art of good living

Solares de Portugal is an international symbol of our rich culture, they exemplify the art of living, they provide an opportunity to travel throughout our country, experience our deepest roots and traditions and enjoy the hospitality and warm welcome that characterises all of our family houses. Patrimony and well-being are an important part of Portuguese culture and motivated our nation’s spirit of challenge and discovery hence our pleasant homes provide an appropriate starting point for many fascinating journeys. Each of these family houses has its own special character, history and specifications that have changed little over the course of time and this stability and durability are the predominant themes of this book beautifully illustrated with photographs by António Homem Cardoso, Portugal’s leading photographer, with accompanying text by Teresa Carvalho.

Solares de Portugal with a new Road Map

Solares de Portugal has a new road map with pictures of all members, with information of each and the easiest away to arrive there. This new brochure has a complete map with the roads of Portugal, as well as the locations of all the houses, with GPS coordinates, and the distances between the Portuguese cities. This new map is in five languages: Portuguese, English, French, Spanish and German, and has all the essential information. It is also an important support for journeys and trips in Portugal, because it is the most recent map of the Portuguese roads.

Europe of Traditions - Eurotrad

Following the Eurotrad - Europe of Traditions project, a bridge between Euroregions - a new brochure of Europe of Traditions and website www.europetraditions.eu was announced.

The brochure features all of the houses associated with TURIHAB and its houses in Austria, Italy, Spain, Slovenia and Hungary. It offers a complete guide in English with comprehensive information on the houses and owners of the houses in the association that forms part of the Eurotrad project.

Guidebook for the Aldeias de Portugal

Going back to our roots, even for short periods of time, is, evermore, a calling felt by millions of people around the world, willing to balance the frenzy of their impersonal and repetitive daily living with the experience of even the briefest contact with a more simple and peaceful way of life, in touch with nature that a typical village offers. And it will be even better if we can join this experience to the comfort and satisfaction of the bare necessities that city folk is used to.

In order to join those factors - the preservation of natural as well as man-made heritage, and creation of the basic habitation needs of modern times – nine associations for local development started the Villages of Portugal network. Their goals are: to enhance tourism in rural places and increase present occupation statistics; to settle and rejuvenate rural populations; to value and promote cultural exchange; to recover and promote local cultural heritage; to create an extra income for local families; and to build an European rural tourism network – www.aldeiasdeportugal.pt.
