Solares de Portugal is a unique concept that was introduced to promote quality tourist accommodation in houses of character and, at the same time, preserve the rich legacy of Portugal’s architectural and cultural heritage.

The Solares represent centuries of Portuguese history and culture. The majority of the   grandiose 17th and 18th century houses are of noble origin and still in the ownership of the descendants of the founding family.

There is an enormous tradition in Portugal between the stately homes and manor houses and the link with the communities of the regions in which they are located.  Our main aim is to preserve this heritage and patrimony.

We are not hotels. We are family homes which are open for guests and one of the prime objectives is to make them feel part of the family. This is an important principal   underlying the TURIHAB philosophy

The Solares are arranged in three distinct groups and each house is inspected and certified according to strict criteria of standardisation set by ERS 3001 to ensure a high level of comfort and hospitality.

Casas Antigas are elegant manor houses and country estates often originating from the 17th and 18th century. Their architecture is of paramount importance to the nation’s heritage and the various styles reflect the significant chapters in the history of Portugal.

Quintas e Herdades are farmhouses and estates in a rural environment and the main house ranges from the classic to the rustic in architectural style.

Casas Rusticas are smaller country houses of more rustic architectural style with simple and practical but comfortable furnishings. Ideal for appreciating the tranquillity of country life.

Prices of Solares de Portugal are in Euros and are per double/twin and per night. Prices include breakfast and private bathroom. Extra Beds only for children up to 12 years of age. Dinner is available at several houses at an extra cost. Those requiring an evening meal should give plenty of notice to their host.

Many Solares de Portugal have apartments who provide the necessary utensils and equipment for preparing meals on a small scale. Provision of breakfast linen and towels is also included.

The swimming pools available in several houses are open air and don’t have heated water. If the weather conditions allow it, they are available from 1st of May until 1st of October.

Aldeias de Portugal

The Aldeias de Portugal is a new form of tourism that allows people to discover rural areas along with farm products and traditional handicraft, right where they are produced. A unique opportunity to discover new routes of natural, historical and architectural interest, where local culture and traditions are still alive.

The Aldeias de Portugal offers accommodation where the contact with nature and daily country life is still possible.
